A reunion in 2018
In 2018 My Wife and I traveled to Europe with a friend to celebrate our 50 wedding anniversary. Before we went I researched the Fishburns and their German origins. With some luck and perseverance, I was able to schedule a meeting with one of the last remaining Fischborn’s living in Planig, Germany. He was in fact still living in the house that Johann Phillip Fishburn III had been born in.
On the morning of our meeting, Hans Walter Fischborn, picked us up and took us back to Phillip Fischborn’s house. We also met another Fischborn Cousin Wilma, who runs a vineyard with her husband. This is who Hans Walter leases his vineyards to since he retired. Fischborn wine is no longer made.e also visited the church across the street from the Fischborn house where many generations have been baptized.
After a ride up through the vineyards and watching a lovely sunset over Planig, we went back to Wilma’s house for a spectacular meal and lots of talk of Fischborn/Fishburn ancestors.
